WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE COLORADO GHOST HUNTERS (AND OTHER GHOST HUNTING GROUPS)by Tad, Colorado Ghost Hunters When we are contacted for the first time by a claimant to conduct an investigation we going through a specific procedure. First, we begin by reviewing the email(s) that we receive. We then develop questions for the claimant to answer regarding their claim from their initial email. Once the questions are satisfied we proceed by contacting the outside individuals to confirm the story. If the people that were contacted are able to confirm the story, we then proceed to research the history of the location(s). We try to find and use any credible outside party information to help collaborate the claim. If for some reason the claimant is not able to satisfy our questionnaire that we send, the chances of a preliminary investigation are greatly reduced. THE PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATIONAfter gathering all the collaborating evidence, we then move on to a preliminary investigation. This entails meeting the contact either a third party location or at the location of their claim. During the meeting we interview the person to get a sense of what the person is like and to also gain any other information that they may have forgotten. This also lets us present our information that we have gathered thus far about the history of the location. We then are able to do a walk through of the location. The only equipment we use at this point are tape recorders, digital voice recorders, and video cameras. If we are not able to gather any evidence from the devices we ask if we can come back again at a later scheduled time to try again. If we are able to pick up evidence we then ask to continually revisit the location at scheduled intervals to conduct in-depth experiments. THE SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATIONHopefully we are able to move on to the next phase, the scientific investigation. During this investigation we include not only the equipment that we brought on the preliminary but we also will include specific experiments. Most of our equipment and experiments are non-intrusive to the building or grounds. The experiments we conduct help us gather data that will be supportive of our hypothesises as to what might be occurring at the location; it also helps us build a supportive case to whether a location is experiencing anything paranormal. EVIDENCE PRESENTATIONAs we continue our investigation we will present the claimant with the evidence that we gather from each investigation and experiment. Our goal is to educate not only the people involved with the paranormal experiences, but the community that is interested is such paranormal phenomena. In the beginning, during the first contact we will present the responsible person with a permission form to fill out. This form either allows the Colorado Ghost Hunters permission to use all of the information or only part of it. The information that we would like to expose to the public is important to us, but so is the claimants privacy! CONDUCT DURING AN INVESTIGATIONIt should also go without saying, but it is necessary, that during the investigations that the Colorado Ghost Hunters conduct, we remain absolute professional and respectful to the claimant, their loved ones, and their property. Horseplay, irresponsible behavoir, or any such conduct is extremely looked down upon. Each of our members has gone through a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the claimants and the Colorado Ghost Hunters themselves. CONCLUSIONThis should give most people a basic idea of what to expect before contacting the Colorado Ghost Hunters. We feel that this helps to eliminate some stress that could be induced when looking to contact a group for help. It also helps other people who might be looking to start their own groups but are not sure exactly who to proceed and it also gives those looking for help a reference in what they should expect from other ghost hunting groups. |
